Next tip for natural conception

Prepare your body

Once the doctor gives both of you the go ahead to get busy, the next step is to prepare your bodies so your child comes into the world as healthy and strong as possible. How do you do this?

Ladies, take your folic acid/Pre- natals. Your doctor would have told you to start taking folic acid if you haven't already started. Doctors usually advice women to start taking folic acid at least 3 months before they start trying to conceive. What is this folic acid and why do you have to take it even before conceiving? Isn't it supposed to be for the baby? I' ll tell you why in a second.
Folic acid belongs to the vitamin B family and helps to prevent birth defects in babies and also in the development of the baby especially the brain and spine. You are usually told to start taking them before you conceive because most women do not know they are pregnant until they miss a period, which is about 2 weeks after they conceive and by then some of the baby's organs such as the brain have already developed.

The CDC recommends a daily dose of 400 micrograms of folic acid for women of child bearing age especially those trying to conceive. Some doctors also advise women trying to conceive to take pre natal supplements, I personally think this is a great idea because they usually contain the recommended 400 micrograms of folic acid and some other necessary vitamins and minerals to help keep you healthy while you try. Remember though that you should check the contents of your pre natals to make sure it contains the recommended dose, your doctor can help you choose the best one for you and your man, yes, your man, they need supplements too. Men need to take their supplements too especially one that contains Zinc. Zinc helps in the production of healthy sperm.

So ladies when you step out to pick up your pre natals, pick up one for your man too.
